Not having Zachary Alhamra and Eric Hamer at the front of the pack won't be the only difference you notice about this year's Arapahoe Warrior Invitational. Photo by Ashley Green.
The South Suburban Parks and Recreation District has spoken. And they have declared that the 2015 version of the Arapahoe Warrior Invitational will be smaller than the 2014 version. Quite a bit smaller, in fact.
If you were hoping to get in, you'd better already be in, because--as of the end of May--Arapahoe High School isn't taking any more teams. The meet is filled to capacity. If you're not already in, it's time to start looking at your alternatives.
Unfortunately, this may be part of the new normal for cross country meets around the state. Arapahoe isn't the only meet in the state facing stricter size limitations from the property owners. I'm hearing this as a repeated refrain from multiple locations in the state.
The expanding popularity of our sport is coming with growth pains.
