Clear blue skies, near record high temperatures, and what felt like higher than normal humidity greeted harriers at Clement Park on Friday for the annual extravaganza that is the Dave Sanders Invitational.
This meet, like many other large meets, offers Division 1 and Division 2 races. Essentially class 5A and some larger 4A schools compete in Division 1, while all the rest toe the line in the Division 2 section. Due to the number of races, as there are Open B and Open C sections too, there is a constant stream of runners on the course -- as one race begins the previous race is nearly finished. The reconfiguration of the start/finish area a few years ago, and the literal out-and-back looped course, rarely allows for any overlap of runners.
