Yuma Early Qualifier, California Miles, and More

A catch-all article to round up a few items we need to talk about...

The Longmont Invitational isn't the only meet that got moved to today (Monday).

Initially, the Broomfield meet was moved to Monday as well. I'm surmising that there were some issues with having the Broomfield facility ready in time for a meet today. In any case, the Broomfield Shootout is shut out.

But, the Yuma Early Qualifier also got bounced to Monday and it appears to be all systems go for that meet. Field events start at noon and running events at 12:15. It appears Yuma has 14 teams coming to this meet, mostly (though not entirely) small schools from the northeastern plains. For many of these schools, this is the season opener--meaning these schools are just barely wedging their first meet of the season into March.

As always, I'll be posting results from Yuma as soon as they become available. If the Longmont meet is still going on when the Yuma results come in, there might be a slight delay until I can get to a computer and post.

While you were digging out from snow drifts on Saturday, Heritage had three milers running at "The Qualifier" in Covina, California. California qualifiers don't qualify for much in Colorado, but the times they dropped there were very nice nonetheless.

Jeremy Romero paced the group with a 4:23.54. Richard Weigang and Dylan Ramaswamy followed at 4:37 and 4:45 for 1600 meters, respectively. Romero's time is faster than any in-state time posted yet this season for Colorado and behind only Thomas Staines and Tanner Norman for out-of-state 1600 marks. All three marks were PR marks--and that's what you make the trip to California for.

As an aside about Heritage, the Eagles as a team still have yet to post a rankings mark for the season. That's what happens when you open with a relays meet and the next two weekends succumb to snowy conditions. Heritage isn't alone in that regard.

Looking ahead to warmer days, if you'd like to take a peek at the state meet schedule but don't want to scroll through the CHSAA bulletin to find it, I've posted there entire 2016 state meet time schedule here.

I'm still getting questions about why some marks aren't posted to athlete databases and don't show in the "Formatted" results. If you're one of the folks harboring that question, the answer can be found in this article.

If you're hosting a rankings meet this spring and haven't yet filed a request for online registration, please fill out the online registration request form. We can't set up your meet without it. Once you've been cleared for not having outstanding bills from previous years, the set up time is minimal.

Have a great Monday. If that doesn't include being at a meet today for you, then may you have an outstanding workout in advance of the next round of weather rolling in Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather for the latter half of March has definitely been rooting hard for teams like Lyons, Shining Mountain, Swink, Littleton, Mountain View, and Colorado Springs Christian.

Looking forward to a more temperate April...
