A big season for Broomfield's Brenna Chase is one of the reasons the 5A Girls 200 already has a higher qualifying standard than it took to get to state last year. Photo by Alan Versaw.
If the 5A Girls 200 seems faster than last year, that would be because it is. So far, that is the only 5A Girls event to have already exceeded last year's state-qualifying standard (before scratches), but the high jump and pole vault have already matched last year's standard, and several other events have crept very close.
Column 2 below shows where #18 landed at the end of last season's qualifying. Column 4 shows the most recent #18 ranking available for 5A Girls. Look for several more marks to eclipse last year's standards in the next couple of weeks. Bolded marks are those that have already met or exceeded last year's final standard.
