As the 2016 Colorado high school track and field season starts to wind down to a close, the race appears to be coming down between Cherokee Trail, Fort Collins, and Arapahoe. Rocky Mountain and Loveland are also not entirely out of the hunt.

While Cherokee Trail will lean hard on sprints, jumps, and relays, the distance dimension is awakening in a way that offers the promise of some point potential there. The embers hopes in Fort Collins will be fanned considerably if Lauren Gregory is able to return to her old form in the remaining weeks of the season. Arapahoe has a relatively narrow range of possible contributions for individual points but has made the absolute most of their relay potential this spring.
