More Cross Country News than You Can Shake a Stick At

Make sure you're up to date...

The cross country news, folks, it just keeps coming.

The coaching carousel keeps going round and round.

We thought we new Steve Urban would be closing down his career at Pomona after this season. It turns out that's not the case. See an article coming out today or tomorrow for more on that story.

For those not yet in the know, Chuck Schwartz--a one-time Doherty head coach and an Adams State distance product under Joe Vigil--has taken over the head coaching duties at Air Academy High School. Don't expect the Kadets to be missing much of a beat this fall.

And, speaking of Joe Vigil, with the announcement that the Joe Vigil Open would be held this year on September 10, Durango and Bayfield have moved the date of the Southwest Sunset XC Classic. That meet will now show up at September 16 on your calendar and not the 9th. That looks like a strategic decision for two teams that have shown up at the Joe Vigil with great regularity in the past.

If you're a cross country coach with a bunch of incoming freshmen and/or move-ins who already have established MileSplit profiles, please let me know. While I have some time this summer, I can port those profiles over directly into your roster. That means you don't have to spend the time creating them if you just send me a list (spelling counts!).

As a reminder, online registration is free on Colorado Track XC this fall. You can (and should) set that up yourself by clicking on More/Online Registration from the main navigation but at the top of this, or any, page on Colorado Track XC. If you had online registration last year for your meet, let me know when you've completed this request as it's possible I will have to manually turn on the online registration for this year's meet.

Just think, no more sending out spreadsheets. And, no more filling out and returning spreadsheets! As a coach, I can get a little enthusiastic about that.

As I work my way through the regional cross country previews for this fall, the regional configurations are nearly complete now on Colorado Track XC. So, if you want to start to virtual meets and such with your region as the "League" selection, you can do that now or will be able to very soon.
