So, did you happen to notice anything unusual about the high school boys races yesterday at St. Vrain? MileSplit contributor Ashley Green did, and was good enough to point it out to me.
It was a very good day to be named Isaac. At least if you like winning races.
Isaac Roberts started things off with a 16:41 winner of the 2A-3A Boys race. A few minutes later, Isaac Green was winning the 4A-5A Boys race in 15:49 (an undoubtedly could have been faster if the need had been there). Then' Monarch's Isaac Russo completed the sweep with a 17:16 winner of the JV Boys race.
How unusual is that?
Well, consider that in 1998, Isaac ranked 65th in most popular names given to boys in the United States at 0.289% of births. In 1999, Isaac moved up one slot to 64th at 0.314%. In 2000, Isaac had climbed to 53rd at 0.356%. In 2001, Isaac has climbed again to 47th at 0.397%. I think it's safe to say that 2002 is our last year of potential interest in this case, where Isaac checked in at 48th and 0.402%.
The first Isaac finisher in the middle school race managed only a 23rd, wrecking what some people would deem a perfect day to buy a lottery ticket.
