Each year, regions vary a little in difficulty. Some regions are stronger; other regions are weaker. Some folks like to point to their region as the toughest region. So, each year I try to take a yardstick to how well each region performed at state, scoring the region's teams by place and adding up scores, just like a.... cross country meet!
In case you were looking for only the executive summary, the toughest regions by combined state meet finish were 3A Region 2 Girls and 5A Region 5 Boys, both posting state meet scores of 24 points.
