Colorado School of Mines to Host Four High School Indoor Meets this Winter

Steinhauer Field House will be a happening place for high school indoor track and field action this winter.

Although this is already on the radar screen of a number of folks up and down the Front Range, I'm still meeting people who don't know about this.

The Colorado School of Mines is hosting a series of four high school indoor meets in Steinhauer Field House this winter. These are Thursday evening meets and will run on January 19, January 26, February 2, and February 9.

All high school athletes, whether or not affiliated with a club, are invited to register and attend.

Events offered at all meets will include the 60, 200, 400, 800, 60H, high jump, long jump, pole vault, and shot put. Triple jump will be offered only on January 26 and February 9. Distance events will be the mile on January 19 and February 2, and the 3000 on January 26 and February 9.

All four meets start at 7 PM with a rolling start. Registration will be on directathletics.com. Results will be sent to Colorado Track XC for posting.

Note that high school athletes will not be allowed to enter collegiate open meets hosted by the Colorado School of Mines this year. At least in part, this is due to some changes in rules regarding non-collegiate athletes in NCAA meets. So, this year's situation figures to be the new normal going forward.

Also, the School of Mines will be hosting track and field clinic sessions at the fieldhouse on Mondays and Thursdays in January and February from 6 - 8 PM.
