Brie Oakley doubles up with a national title in the 2 mile.
There wasn't really a shortage of people wondering whether a 5K on Friday followed by a two mile on Sunday was such a great idea.
Brie Oakley was doing it, anyway. And, now, she has added indoor national titles in the 5K and two mile to her impressive list of accomplishments.
And, this one wasn't all that much closer than Friday's 5K. Oakley finished under 10 minutes at 9:56.06. Better than 16 seconds back in second place was Jessica Lawson. Oakley did it much as she accomplished her 5K victory, sustaining a withering pace until all resistance fell off the pace.
Oakley's time leaves Mary Cain's all-time indoor record for two miles intact, but that's scarcely a tarnish on her brilliant weekend.
Elsewhere, it was a bit of a quiet final day for Colorado at NBNI 2017. Mia Manson and Sydnee Larkin were the only other Colorado athletes in action on Sunday.
Manson cleared the opening height of 11-8.5 in the pole vault but got no further. Larkin came up short of here season best mark in the triple jump at 38-9.75, but still managed 13th place in the event.
And indoor season is now complete.
