The time has finally come. Every track season in Colorado seems to have its own unique character. Some years, track season is shaped by the number of meets lost to weather systems. In 2016, the Pomona Invitational was chopped firmly in half by a stubborn snow storm that sent meet organizers scrambling and eventually getting in all elite heats on Friday afternoon. 2017, thus far, has been the exact opposite with temps hovering in near perfect track weather the whole afternoon and evening, save for some errant gusts to start the day.
At this point in the track season, we are now exactly one month from State. Some of the times run at meets the size of Pomona actually stand the chance of making it through to the end. Coaches looking to give their athletes a prelims and finals, high caliber two day, state like experience will turn to a meet the size and scope of Pomona to make sure that their athletes are ready when the moment comes to turn in big performances.
The first day of the Pomona invitational held mostly prelims, and a few finals, and as expected some huge performances were turned in.
