Ben Kelley and Telluride Continue To Roll


The Telluride girls had respectable day placing second in the 4x200m and third in the 4x400m running 1:51.86 and 4:20.56 respectively. Soleil Gaylord and Maya Ordonez placed in both the 1600m and the 3200m. Gaylord's 5:15.96 in the 1600m represents a newly minted top rank in 2A. Telluride has three girls currently in the state qualifying rankings for the 1600m.

Chloe Veilleux of Soroco took fourth behind Gaylord in the 3200m with a time of 11:44.09.

At the throwing rings, Gunnison's Alysha Wyman threw the shot 35-10.5 to claim another title for the small school contingent. And Sequoia Kellogg jumped 36-4.25 into a -1.7 headwind for the triple jump title.

The Glenwood Springs boys were absent from scorers in the 800m where small school runners Ben Kelley of Soroco and Colton Stice of Gunnison were the only runners to go under two minutes. Kelley's 1:56.81 performance is the fastest this season by a 2A runner.
