After a brilliant freshman season, Remington Ross looks to solidify her standing as the top 2A sprinter next spring.


For those who've been waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel, this could be it.

Let's be clear about one thing, though: Paonia is still a legitimate track and field team. But, Paonia took some serious hits to graduation this spring and the opening for another team to rush through and seize opportunity is there.

From this distant vantage point, the two teams that appear to be most seriously in contention for next year's crown are Highland and Telluride. A lot can happen in a year, but the Huskies and the Miners both appear to have the talent for a serious title run.

Highland will lean heavily on the services of sophomore-to-be Remington Ross. Ross sprints and long jumps, primarily. The good news for the opposition is that she will be limited to four events. Highland also figures to get solid contributions from jumper Maison Tolle and thrower Laramie Woods.
