3A Region 2: Going Mostly By The Script

3A Region 2 Boys: All the Expected Teams Advance

Adam Maal was first to test the waters and take the lead. That lead lasted about a mile, as a ravenous pack of Alamosa, Lamar, and TCA runners gradually closed the gap, then caught and overtook the St. Mary's junior.

By the time the second circuit had begun, the lead group was down to four--Blake Davis and three TCA Titans: Ryan Moen, Mason Norman, and Canaan Lamberth. This wasn't a day for heroic efforts, though, so when Davis moved into the lead, he met with no determined resistance. Even at the front, though, Davis kept things measured enough to finish at 17:10. There would be no sub-17 efforts on the afternoon, and certainly no sub-16 efforts.

The TCA trio finished and scored 2-3-4, setting up the eventual TCA victory that would be sewn up by Josiah Cole in ninth and Nathan Bone in 18th.

TCA met the most resistance from Alamosa, led by Elijah DeLaCerda in 6th. Alamosa's team tally of 55 would be followed by Lamar with 80 and Salida with 87. Nobody else was within 60 points. And the script was satisfied.

Qualifying for State as individuals were Maal and David Jensen of Colorado Springs Christian. Nobody else made the cut. Nobody else was even close.
