While everyone's got their eyes set on this weekend's Air Force High School Open, the sixth addition of the Mines Indoor Series took place last night, and not every athlete is waiting for the weekend to perform.
The meet was slightly watered down, which was somewhat expected, but that didn't stop some of Colorado's best from coming out to warm up for the weekend ahead.
The performance of the night clearly goes to Mia Manson, who went 13-6 for the No. 3 mark in the country. Additionally, she would've placed second among the boys.
Maya Evans appeared to be warming up for Air Force as well. Evans won the long jump in 19-10, and the 60 in 7.67. Evans is set to compete in the long jump at Air Force tomorrow.
Another notable performance went to James Heater in the shot. Heater tossed for 50-06 -- the No. 2 mark in the state so far. Likewise, Connor McGraw didn't need any competition to push him in the high jump. McGraw jumped 6-3 for the No. 3 mark in the state.
In the distance events eight-grade phenom Alayna Szuch took the mile in a state-leading 5:25. She'll likely get to enjoy that honor for another day, until Madison Mooney and company line up at Air Force, but something tells me she'll have that honor again sometime in the future...
