Ames vs Mortensen vs Stice
Three of the fastest seven in the state are coming out of this region. Delta's John Ames, Moffat's Wyatt Mortenson, and Gunnison's Colton Stice are the No. 5, No. 6, and No. 7 runners in the state based on Colorado times.
Ames leads the way with his 16:10 from the Pantherfest, which was just ahead of Mortenson, who ran 16:13 at the same meet. This was the only time these two raced each other this season, which gives Ames the 1-0 over Mortensen.
Head to head, Stice has got the advantage over both of them, however. He beat Ames by over 30 seconds in Gunnison at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite last month, and he's got a 15:41 PR from Desert Twilight to his name. So he's got the 1-0 over Ames, and a pseudo "1-0" over Mortensen, since Ames beat Mortensen.
