4A Region 4: Finding Gold In The Valley

Kenadi and Olivia Krueger went 1-2 to lead Thompson Valley to the team title.

It was a Krueger - and Thompson Valley kind-of-day Thursday. The sister-duo of Kenadi Krueger and Olivia Krueger made sure to give their squad the coveted three points.

The Kruegers, along with Windsor's Morgan Hykes and Roosevelt's Madi Kenyon made it a four-women show within the opening mile. Behind them, Erie's Emily Condon was giving chase, but the pack of four had their separation.

The Kruegers ran as if they enjoyed the company, while calmly bidding their time.

Kenadi ran patiently through the first half before putting her stamp on the race. The junior telescoped away for a dominating 19:17 victory.

24 seconds later she had the unique opportunity of watching her sister battle for the runner-up finish. And what better day for the house of Krueger than a 1-2 finish?

Freshman Olivia Krueger made that happen, by kicking in hard for a 19:41 finish, just ahead of Kenyon, who finished in 19:44. Hykes held a hard-charging Condon in the final straight, finishing in 20:04, just ahead of Condon's 20:08.

Jayda Nix was the third Thompson Valley runner into the top six, giving the girls in yellow the victory nod. Thompson Valley tallied 37 points for dominating team victory. Roosevelt took the runner-up spot, tallying 66 points, while Erie took third with 93 points.

And like the boy's race, the final state berth in the girl's team competition came down to the wire. Two points separated Silver Creek and Windsor, with the 'Creek taking the ticket with 124 points to Windsor's 126.
