League titles were on the line, and that meant we had a handful of IronWomen, and IronMen competing in a variety of events for points.
There were a ton of big performances, and on a ton of highlights, so much in fact that my head is still spinning from all the numbers...
On the girl's 4A side of the competition, claiming top honors had to be Esther Diza-Mbelolo and Kasey Klocek.
Diza-Mbelolo won the 100, 200, 400, 100 Hurdles, and the 300 Hurdles, while Klocek won the 400, 800, and the 1,600.
D'Evelyn claimed the the 4A team title with 214 points.
Likewise, the 5A side of the competition saw some great battles.
Maya Provencal and Camille Peisner put on a show. Provencal took the 100, though Peisner claimed the 200, and the 400. Peisner's 400 win was a state-leading, jaw-dropping, 54.31 - that's also the No. 16 time in the US.
Taylor Whitfield was a double-winner as well, claiming the 1,600 and 3,200, while teammates Destiny Grimes and Lizzie Waters made it a sweep of the hurdles, with Grimes taking the 100H, and Waters taking the 300H. Waters also finished second in the pole vault to Heather Walker, who went 10-9.
There were some great battles in the throws as well, with Amanda Opp and Jane Powers taking turns with victories. Opp won the discus and Powers was second, while Powers won the shot and Opp was second.
Colorado did capture a glimpse of the country's best all-around athlete, Anna Hall, in the relays. Hall helped Valor Christian run a state-leading 3:47 in the 4x4.
Valor dominated the 5A competition, tallying 261 points.
