Clawing To Victory At The Wolverine XC Invite

With the course already warmed up by Johns, and the Fossil Ridge girl's squad, the stage was set for Fossil Ridge boys.

Peter Martin telescoped away early, duplicating the solo-effort of Johns on the girl's side. The Fossil Ridge senior ran clear of the field, which was heavy with green and black in the top 10.

Martin cruised away with a 16:42 victory, while teammate Guillaume Pattyn gave Fossil Ridge a 1-2 finish, as he dipped under 17 as well.

And it was almost a 1-2-3.

Heritage Christian's Xander Stanton broke up the SaberCat party with a big day of his own, as he kicked hard to finish third in 17:02. The finish was a 22-second personal best, beating out his 17:24 PR from Desert Twilight a year ago.

Fossil Ridge's Luke Spencer was the third SaberCat across the line, finishing fourth in 17:03, while Frontier Academy's Christian Baca was just five seconds back in 17:08.

Fossil Ridge freshman Cy Teruel gave the SaberCats four in the top six, while Cody Wangen closed out their scoring with a 10th place finish.

Fossil Ridge tallied an impressive 23 points to win the team title in dominating fashion. Lutheran took the runner-up spot with 151 points, while Loveland finished third with 162 points.

Heritage Christian had an impressive finish as well, finishing fourth with 180 points.
