From the opening mile it was clear that Erik Le Roux intended on a solo run.
The Cheyenne Mountain junior, donning a new black uniform, wasted no time stating his intentions Friday evening. Like Michalak, Le Roux ran away from the field early, and never looked back.
In the second 5k of his season Le Roux ran 15:58 - just eight seconds off his 2019 state performance.
The time was over a half-a-minute ahead of his nearest competitor, which was Palmer Ridge's Colby Schultz, who finished second in 16:29. The time was just ahead of a late-charging Scott Prieve, who finished third in 16:32.
In the team competition Cheyenne Mountain ran into a league of their own.
Knox Exton, Kaden Levings, Enzo Knapp, and Cedar Collins crashed the top-10, finishing 5-6-8-9 to an impressive 27 points.
Palmer Ridge finished second with 64, while Air Academy finished third with 91.
