Let's get into it, here is the 2A state preview...
Individuals
Nadhia Campos heads to State for the first time, and yet she'll toe the starting line as the favorite. The Vanguard School freshman won five out of six races this season, with her only loss coming to runners from larger classifications. She recently ran 18:13 to win the 2A Region 2 in a personal best, meaning she's peaking right on time.
Though, the freshman will have competition.
And it'll likely come from Zaila Smith. The Buena Vista senior dominated the 2A Region 3 championships, running 18:37 - a PR. She's won five of seven races, with one loss coming from runners from larger classifications, and the other a runner-up finish to Campos.
Elle Stevens is another runner who could make a run for it. The Colorado Springs Christian senior finished second to Campos at regionals in a 18:37 PR, and she was third behind Campos and Smith at the Tri-Peaks/Black Forest League Championships.
This race goes down Saturday at 11 a.m.
Teams
Colorado Springs Christian has been rocking all season long, and they head to State as the favorites to claim the 2A team title.
They recently claimed the 2A Region 2 title with an impressive 20 points.
CSC will have competition in the form of the defending state champions - Buena Vista, who also dominated their region meet, claiming the 2A Region title with 21 points.
These two squads have met twice this season, and both times CSC came out on top - by 10 points at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede, and by eight-points at the Tri-Peaks/Black Forest League Championships.
It's safe to say we've got a battle brewing...
Another squad that could shake things up is Lake County. They recently won the 2A Region 1 title without their top-two runners.
