Clawing To Victory At The Harrison Panther Invite

Nadhia Campos made light work of the distance events.

The 2A state cross country champion took on all-comers in the 1,600, and basically made no contest of the race.

After torching a 75-second opening lap the Vanguard freshman telescoped away quickly. Campos kicked hard over the final 400 and finished with an entirely open straightaway behind her in 5:12.99. Adele Havlick took second in 5:34.

Several hours later Campos came back and duplicated the performance, this time winning the 800 in 2:22.61. Jade Allen was second in 2:28.05.

Going way up distance before coming back down, Ella Jimenez won the 3,200 in 12:35 over Claire Nowels' 12:44.

Meanwhile Janise Everett and Audrey Barhydt battled into the final strides of the 100, with Everett getting the win in 12.92 to Barhydt's 12.98.

In the hurdles it was all Leyah Martinez

The Pueblo East senior dominated the two events, winning the 100 hurdles in 15.94, and the 300 hurdles in 47.50.

In the field Air Academy freshman Tatyonna Brown won the high jump in a 5-2 PR, which was just one inch above fellow freshman Teysia Tacoronte from Ellicott, and Rampart's Brielle Edwards

In the horizontal jumps Ashley Glass won the long jump with a leap of 16-3, while Jada Miller landed just half-an-inch ahead of Isabella Coscetti in triple jump, winning the event with a leap of 36-2.

In the throws Gabriella Beauperthuy dominated the competition.

The Doherty senior won the discus with a toss of 115-10, and the shot put in 33-10.

Erie claimed the team competition with 91 points, while Fountain-Fort Carson took third with 81, and Mesa Ridge took third with 67.
