Tasty Race Tuesday: Girls 1600 At Runners Roost Of FC

What best describes a wire-to-wire victory?

I'm thinking something bold and mouth-watering. Something grilled.

Ok.

It's a juicy 16oz t-bone steak sprinkled with Montreal steak seasoning, and well-done - pretty much like how the girl's 1,600 at the Runners Roost of Fort Collins Invitational played out.

That race was fiery and done early.

Add a side of sliced potatoes sprinkled with black pepper, salt, basil, oregano, and garlic for that flavor-filled bell lap.

That's four laps of this week's Tasty Race Tuesday...

And it included Summit's Ella Hagen, Liberty Common's Isabel Allori, and Fort Collins' Ella Johns

The race was a flaming grill from the opening strides.

Hagen took over the pacing duties right before the trio hit the 200-meter marker, and she ever so slightly turned the dial on the grill all the way up.

The Summit freshman hit the 400 just under five-minute-mile-pace, and kept generously pouring on the A1 through the next three laps.

Hagen soloed much of the way while Johns and Allori gave chase from several meters back. Allori kicked hard over the final lap, though there'd be no catching the Summit freshman on this day.

Hagen closed how she started - dropping a 74-ish final lap to cross the finish line in 5:05.94 - a massive personal best.

Allori's late surge closed what was a sizable gap, and she was rewarded with a 5:08.46 PR. Johns finished several seconds later in third in 5:14.93.
