This Week's Nominees:
Dillon Ferguson, Golden High School (Colorado): A freshman crossed first out of 216 finishers at the Mead Stampede, covering 5K in 16:59.30 and pulling away for a 48.8-second margin. The time slots in at No. 2 among freshman athletes in MileSplit's database at Mead High School XC Course since 2010, and No. 90 overall out of 2,565 athletes on that course.
Abdinasir Hassan, Northfield High School (Colorado): First place out of 130 finishers at the Pat Patten Invitational came with a 5K clocking of 14:43.50, a 30.7-second margin over the rest of the field. That time stands as the fastest in MileSplit's database at Viele Lake XC Course since 2008, spanning 3,934 athletes, and it also tops every junior on record there among 1,417 junior athletes.
Jackson Ferguson, Golden High School (Colorado): Ran 15:15.10 for 1st place among 181 finishers in the 5K at Mead Stampede. The mark is the fastest overall mark in MileSplit's database at this course since 2010 and was 38.2 seconds faster than the prior mark on this course. It is also the fastest junior mark in MileSplit's database at this course since 2010.
Hayden Gandar Fierro, Rocky Ford High School (Colorado): Winning the Wiggins Cross Country Invitational took a 5K time of 16:43.90, enough for first out of 103 finishers and a 16.7-second cushion. That performance checks in at No. 26 of 1,968 athletes in MileSplit's database at Wiggins High School XC Course since 2008, with a No. 11 standing among 699 junior athletes on that same list.
Thomas Marchand, Legend High School (Colorado): A 7.4-second margin settled the Denver East Angel Invitational, with a winning time of 16:10.40 for 5K among 134 finishers. That run places No. 13 of 2,323 athletes in MileSplit's database at City Park Cross Country Course since 2008, and No. 9 among 583 senior athletes recorded there.
