The 2A Colorado State Recap: Nauman, Campos Dominate

Three-fourths of the 2A races went according to script, including the dominance of Nadhia Campos

The defending state champion and Vanguard sophomore made absolutely no contest of the 2A individual race.

Campos ran like she has all season long - she soloed an 18:37 victory to make her two-for-two when it comes to cross country state titles.

While Campos' result was somewhat expected, who would be second was the question that needed answered in the individual race.

Like Campos, North Fork's Jessica Black answered this one by doing what she's done all season. The North Fork sophomore - running her first season of cross country - took second in 19:08.

Likewise, Crested Butte's Ruby Pendy finished third in 20:05.

And then the team race took shape...

While Heritage Christian had been impressive all season - and they were at State - Lake County had all the pieces to claim the state title, and put that potential on full display Saturday.

They took their Underdog status and flipped the script.

Lake County put Adele HorningKeira KingViolet Hill, and Ella Bullock all inside the top-15, going 7-11-12-15 to close the door before anyone else could get their third runner in.

Lake County tallied an impressive 34 point to claim the 2A state title. Heritage Christian took second with 48 points, while Banning Lewis Prep took third with 75.
