Monday Morning Recap: Indoor Track & Field Gets REAL

The first week of the 2023 indoor track and field season showed us a glimpse of what we're likely to see in coming months!

There were two hotly contested meets on Saturday - the Let's Get REAL Indoor Invitational #2 in Colorado Springs, and the Colorado Mines HS Indoor Series #2 in Golden.

Let's dive into the highlights of the highlights...

A big performance coming out of the Let's Get REAL Invite was Luguse Nuss, who soared into 2023 - the Florence junior leapt to a state-leading 22-10 in the long jump. That's a pretty sizable personal best for Nuss, who finished fifth at last year's state championship.

Among the highlights coming out of the Mines meet was Mary Ella Brooks, who tossed 51-9.75 - that's a US No. 1 mark.

Another spotlight was Jaylynn Wilson, who ran 7.77 in the 60.

For the boys Joe Ciccio dipped under 7-seconds in the 60, going 6.98, Cameron Thomas clearing 15-7 in the pole vault, and Charlie Lafore tossing 61-9 in the weight throw.

Editor's Note: We have not received results from the USATF All-Comers #1 meet yet, so the following report does not reflect performances from that meet. Once we receive them we'll update this report.
