Let's take a look at the Leap of the Year: 1600...
Topping the girl's list was Angela Friedman.
The DaySpring Academy junior went from not racing the 1600 at State in 2022, to finishing third this year. Friedman went from 6:13 last year, to 5:27 this year.
That's a 45-second leap.
And it's one of two athletes who improved by over 40-seconds.
The other was Banning Lewis Preps Alexia Gonzales, who went from 6:08 to 5:25 - that's a leap of 42-seconds.
Taking the boys honors was Chet Gorman.
The Rocky Mountain sophomore chopped off a jaw-dropping 51.47-seconds from his freshman year, going from 5:25 to 4:34.
Mountain Vista's Jack Simmons took silver on this list, going from 5:00 to 4:20 for a leap of 40-seconds.
Check out how much everyone improved from 2022 to 2023.
