2A

Boys Distance

Daven Masche transferred from New Mexico over the winter, and ever since he's been dominating the 2A rankings.

He tops the 3,200 rankings with a 9:49, and is No. 2 in the 1,600 clocking 4:29.28.

He currently leads the 2A 3,200 rankings by nine-seconds.

Up until this past weekend, he was the top-seed in the 1,600, but James Beam arrived right on time.

The St. Mary's senior torched a 2A No. 1 of 4:24.55 at the Tri Peaks League Meet, which was a massive personal best. The time leads 2A by five-seconds. Beam went from "in-the-mix" to "favorite" in one week.

The 1,600 is where we could see some fireworks in the final lap - in addition to Beam and Masche, James TalbotPaul Leeder, and 2A cross country state champ Andrew Bel have all run between 4:29 and 4:35 in Colorado.

Girls Hurdles & Jumps

Eboselulu Omofoma is her own storyline.

I could replace "girls hurdles and jumps" with just her name, because not only is she going to be everywhere this week, she's the No. 1 seed in five events.

Which means she'll have to pick the four she's allowed to compete in.

Omofoma tops the 100H with a 14.50, the 300H with a 44.28, the high jump with a 5-4 clearance, the long jump with a 17-7, and the triple jump with a 37-3.

Her most dominant events are the 100H, which she leads by nearly a second-and-a-half, and the triple jump, which she leads by over two-feet.

She's actually tied for No. 1 in the high jump with Hoehne's Braylee Foster, who's also cleared 5-4.

As mentioned already, Omofoma has the potential to wrack up 40 points for DaySpring Christian Academy all on her own.

Boys Relays

Can Peyton sweep the relays?

And when I write "sweep" I literally mean they have the potential to win the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and the 4x800.

Up until this past weekend, they held 2A No. 1 times in every relay on the board

But we'll come back to that...

This could have huge implications in the team race, because that's 40 points right there if Peyton can pull it off.

Peyton has run 44.08 in the 4x100, 1:30.87 in the 4x200 (which leads the state by two-seconds), 3:25.92 in the 4x400 (which leads the state by seven-seconds), and 8:24.08 in the 4x800 (which leads the state by six-seconds.)

Back to the "they lead every relay until last weekend" line - Platte Canyon ran 44.07 in the 4x100 at the HOKA St. Vrain Invitational, which is a 2A No. 1 in the event by one-hundredth of a second.

The 4x100 could come down to the inches...

It's rare to see such dominance, but it is possible that Peyton wracks up 40 points in the relays alone.
