Valarie Allman Wins Discus Gold At The 2024 Paris Olympics

Make that back-to-back Olympic gold medals for Valarie Allman!

The Silver Creek alumni defended her Olympic title in the discus Tuesday night in Paris, where she dominated the field, throwing 69.50 meters (about 228-feet) to win her second Olympic goal medal.

The mark was nearly seven-feet beyond the nearest competitor, China's Feng Bin, who took silver in 67.51.

What was additionally impressive about Allman's dominance was her consistency - excluding her two fouls, every throw was a gold-medal distance.

Following a foul to start things off, she went on to throw 68.74, 68.06, 69.50, foul, and then 69.21 to close it out with two throws over 69-meters.

Allman captured gold three years ago in the Tokyo Olympics, where she threw 68.98-meters. Tuesday's win was a marked comeback for the 2013 Silver Creek grad, who finished second at the World Championships last year.

As a high schooler she won the discus state title in 2012, and 2013, and finished third as a sophomore.

She went on to set the American record in the quiet of 2020, throwing 70-15-meters.
