The shot put is starting to see some huge improvements in the event this season, with a plethora of athletes improving by over 10 feet! The list is highlighted by Hudson Mehren of Silver Creek High School, who has the best improvement of 13-3. He improved from 29-2.5 from last year, to a staggering 42-5.5 so far this year. Though he is only a junior, this is only his second season throwing, meaning Mehren's potential to continue to improve is likely.
Another lower classmen, Grant Haas of Monarch High School, who is only a sophomore, has improved by over 11 feet, throwing 29-4.5 and improving to 40-11.25. Once again, this improvement shows the potential of Haas considering he is still newer to the event.
Finally, the last thrower with an improvement over 10 feet is Mason Dickens of Strasburg High School. He has improved from 33-3 to 44-7.5, putting his improvement at 11-4.5. He is also currently ranked 8th overall in 3A with his improved throw from the past week.
