Colorado at NXN Through the Lens of Jeff McCoy

Fort Collins's two big freshman contributors, Michelle Kramer and Audrey Oweimrin, negotiate the whoop-de-dos at NXN.

What follows is certainly not a comprehensive photographic documentation of all Colorado athletes, but it does give you a glimpse at the races of several of Colorado's top finishing athletes...

Kristen Kientz and Marci Witczak stuck pretty close throughout the race. Whether or not that was intentional is a question you would have to ask them. Judging by the lack of splatter, this would have to be on the first loop around the course.

Erin Hooker's final step at NXN 2010. Nice little bit of hair action there.

Tait Rutherford may have had the best race of the day for anyone on either Fort Collins team. He was relentless, and at the end he nearly caught teammate Griffin Hay.

Griffin Hay didn't have such a bad effort himself, though. If you weren't there, the reason his legs were so wet in this picture is that the whoop-de-dos follow  immediately after the sloppiest portion of the course. Clearly, this was on the final circuit of the course as the racers are pretty muddy at this point.

Spencer Wenck's legs never finished turning over. He pursued doggedly the entire race and very much earned that fifth-place finish with a magnificent effort. I can't think of a better race turned in by a Colorado competitor all season long.
