There are few runners in Colorado who can match the impressive resume that Delaney Reuter brings into the 2026 cross country season.
The Eaton High School standout was nearly unbeatable throughout her junior campaign, winning nine of the 12 races she competed in. That stretch included her biggest victory of them all, as Reuter rolled to the Class 3A state title in 17:41, making her the back to back cross country state champion.
Her success would continue beyond the state level.
Reuter carried that momentum onto the national stage, finishing 10th at Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) and establishing herself as one of the country's top distance talents.
And somehow, she's gotten even better since then.
Reuter owns a blistering 16:42.87 5K cross country personal best. This past spring At Nike Outdoor Nationals in June, she torched the track for a 16:20.32 5,000-meter personal best to capture a national title.
Now, Reuter returns this fall as the two time defending 3A champion, and with an even stronger engine than the one she left last fall with.
"I am super excited for senior year! Honestly, I feel like senior year holds so much joy and excitement for the future," Reuter said. "I am excited to lead our team this year, as we have a lot of strong freshmen, and I believe that our team can do well this year at state."
After a 2025 season that included nine victories, a Colorado state title, a top-10 finish at NXN, and a track season that saw her crowned the 5000m NON champion in June, Reuter has firmly established herself among the best distance runners in the country.
"This final cross country season sort of feels like a celebration of my time in high school and an opportunity to look forward to new opportunities," Reuter said. "I don't really feel sad, because it's been such a great high school experience, and I am excited for the next step in my journey."
The question this fall might not be whether Reuter can contend for another 3A crown.
It might be just how fast she can go.
