2A Region 1
Teams: Alexander Dawson, Collegiate Academy, Denver Academy, Denver Christian, Lutheran, Lyons, Merino, Nederland, Resurrection Christian, Shining Mountain Waldorf, Wiggins, Yuma
This one is 2A's big region. At this point, we're looking at 11 complete teams, meaning that four would advance to state.
Defending state champion Nederland holds court in this region, and there appears to be little in the way of Kelley Robinson, Rebecca Hermann, and company returning to state again this year.
Last year, Lyons gave Nederland all they could handle at the regional meet, but the pieces have not yet come together for Lyons as they did last year. Miriam Roberts and Olivia Raspotnik are two of the top runners in the region, but the Lions aren't nipping at Nederland's heels. Still, Lyons figures to be the #2 team out of the region.
