Next time you go to a track and field meet, make sure you spend some time at the throws venue, even if that's not a venue you normally visit at a track meet. I am constantly impressed by how open and congenial the community at the throwing rings is. Just as it is in my own favorite sport of cross country, this is a place where people share ideas, openly root and cheer for throwers from other schools, and it seems that everyone knows everyone else's name. Before he left for Kansas, I felt that Chris Morriss was a fountain of some of the most interesting conversations to be had at a track meet in Colorado.
