It's no secret. Girls distance in Colorado is as tough as it gets. California and New York may have bigger populations to work with, and almost every state races at lower elevation (most of the time), but, on an athlete-by-athlete basis, no state gets as much production out of its female high school distance runners as Colorado does. And this figures to be a pretty solid year, even by Colorado standards.
