On what may have been the most glorious March day for track and field ever in Colorado, Pueblo County made a bold statement. If you aren't used to thinking of County as a sprint school, it's time to make an adjustment in your thinking.

And here are a few thoughts to get you started...

Abby Simpson won the 100 in 12.78 (-1.0). She came back later in the day to take the 400 in 57.69. Had she been in the 200, she might have won that, too.

In the boys' 400, most of the trained eyes were on Ben Goodman, the Palmer mainstay who figures to be mixing it up for the 5A 400 meter title later this spring. Goodman got a good start, but he didn't have an answer for the surge of County's Jordan Chavez down the finish straight. Chavez took the 400 in 49.10.
