3A boys cross country projects to be a wide open this fall. Most of the obvious early contenders are emerging out of the Patriot League, and Frontier Academy is one of those contenders. The Wolverines are only two years into cross country (their student-athletes ran with University prior to that time), but have already established themselves as one of the better 3A teams under the coaching of Brett Shanklin and Daniel Joiner.

A disappointing state meet last year relegated Frontier Academy to 14th in the 3A standings last year after a very promising early season that included a third-place finish at the Lori Fitzgerald Pre-State Invitational. Nobody in the program wants to repeat that scenario this year.
