The Crested Butte Titans will long remember October 29, 2011, as the day they rolled the dice... and took down one of the giants of 2A boys cross country for a state title.

The 2A boys race was set up to be a doozy. Telluride, which had come into the season as prohibitive favorites, cruised through their season, taking on and dispatching all 2A rivals with ease. At least they did that until the regional meet in Delta. It was there that Telluride edged Crested Butte by a scant three points. But, the margin of victory was only a part of the story.
