The first cross country thought in my head this morning was, "How good is this year's Salida team?" There are two answers to that question--one for the boys and one for the girls. But, the answers are eerily similar.
Make no mistake about it, both of these teams are good. Very good, in fact.
The obvious measuring stick for the Salida boys is that magical 2009 team that won a state title on the Fossil Ridge course. How does this team compare against that one?
Pretty favorably. The 2009 team had Josh Noriega and Lukas Garcia up front. The 2012 Salida Spartans probably give up just a little to the 2009 team in the first two positions, but the 2012 pair of Taylor Stack and Jacob Adamson is gaining ground on the Noriega/Garcia legacy with every week.
