It's been an idea in the works for a while now. This year, it comes to fruition.

The Pueblo Twilight Invitational meet takes flight on Friday, May 3, 2013. The meet will take the top 45 entries (five heats of nine each) in each of the laned events. Field events will take a similar number of entries with three attempts in prelims and three more in finals for the top nine qualifiers out of prelims.

4x800s and 800s will run during daylight hours, along with all field events, sprint, and hurdle events to take advantage of the extra warmth. Daylight hours event scheduling will be slightly modified from the usual order of events.

1600s and 3200s will be run under the lights (4x400s may run under the lights as well, yet to be determined). The idea here is to take advantage of Pueblo's relatively lower elevation along the Front Range and the benefits of running distance well after the heat of the day has dissipated. The meet will run multiple seeded heats of both 1600s and 3200s.

CSU-Pueblo is conveniently located on the north end of Pueblo, making access much quicker for schools coming from points north than venerable Dutch Clark Stadium in the center of town. Like Dutch Clark, the CSU-Pueblo Thunderbowl track surface sits below ground level and is afforded some protection from the wind by the advantageous setting.

The meet is also purposely scheduled to take advantage of the last weekend of open scheduling prior to league meets.

Co-hosting the event will be CSU-Pueblo, Pueblo Centennial High School, and The Classical Academy.

More information to follow. Meet entry forms will be downloadable on this site once available.
