Alex Hise figures as the top returning sprinter in the Southwestern League for this spring.

Lately, Durango has been dominating a lot of things on the Western Slope. It would appear as if they're lining up as the team to beat this spring in the Southwestern League as well.

Since this is a depth analysis of returning athletes, relays have been removed from the picture. It's just impossible to say at this point in time how relays will shape up (except, perhaps, to look at the counts of returning athletes below and project that the teams with the most will also be able to fill out the strongest relays).

But, we can make some reasonable projections about individual events based on last year's results. And those results suggest, rather strongly, that Durango figures as the top team on the Southwestern League dogpile this spring. That could change before May, of course, but it does count as the most current forecast.

Durango does bring a nicely rounded team to the track, a team that can post quality points in nearly every event area.

This depth analysis goes only 12 deep--in place of the usual 15--on account of the small size of the Southwestern League (now down to five teams).

2017 co HS M Outdoor Track Team Scores (Returners Only)

Calculated as of January 06, 2018

These rankings were calculated by scoring the rankings as a meet. We scored 12 deep for individuals only. For example, for individuals 1st place received 12 points for their team, on down to 1 point for 12th place.

Athletes whose graduation years are unknown were left out of the list.
