As a distance guy, I wince when I say this, but there is no event that says "track and field" like the 100 meter dash. Spectators get more return on investment in these (more or less) 10 seconds than in any other event. So, let's look and see who this year's show stoppers are:

There is no shortage of contenders here. 10 guys come back under 11-flat. Doubtless a few more will dip below this season.

The top 2013 time among this group belongs to Trey Smith of Douglas County. And, Smith's name probably isn't the highest on the name recognition list in this field. His 10.61 came in the state prelims last spring and represents a considerable PR, but has also had six more wind-legal efforts under 11-flat. So, he is clearly legit. His lack of name recognition probably owes to the fact that we didn't see him in track until last spring.
