Well, we almost got the series done before the meets started. This installment will complete the 2014 Track and Field by Events preview series.

The nice thing about distance is that you get a lot of shuffling of the order each year. The rankings are more fluid from year to year than most events, and largely dependent on the amount of smart work that was done over the intervening off seasons. We've already seen a few hints of what's coming here, but let's take a closer look:

He didn't run last year, but Cerake Geberkidane has indicated he will be running this year, and that's about all we need to burden him with the status of favorite. In fact, we'll dare to dream a little and wonder if a 30-something-year-old record might fall this spring.
