The high jump is perhaps the most difficult event to watch at the Colorado state meet. Situated in the north D ring of Jeffco Stadium, there's simply no easy way to get a great look at the competition. The best views are from across the north fence, but that precludes looking at a lot of other events and still doesn't offer great views of the high jump. Perhaps a better vantage point would be from either the east or west stands at about the north 10-yard-line and armed with binoculars.

The venue itself presents challenges for the high jumpers. The crown of the field slopes off perceptibly toward the high jump pit. Skillfully used, this might provide an advantage by offering the jumpers a little extra approach speed, but it's definitely a new game if you're not accustomed to it.
