The long jump is an event almost everyone who goes out for track and field tries at least once. Sooner or later, though, a few discover they have an exceptional knack for the event and the rest become mid-packers. In almost all years and all classifications in Colorado, it takes something well over 20 feet to win this event, and often in excess of 23 feet. Let's see what this year holds.

Columbine's Bernard McDondle and Highlands Ranch's Connor Turnage return in a near dead-heat at the top of the rankings. We haven't seen McDondle in the indoor season, but nobody is writing him off on account of that. On the other hand, Turnage has shown during the indoor season that he's already out beyond the distance of last spring's best jump. It will probably take at least 23-something to win it this year.
