With most events, when fatigue sets in you can shorten your stride length, settle in behind someone, or otherwise measure your effort. Those options don't exist in the 300 hurdles. Right up to hurdle #10, if you settle, it's over. To be sure, most hurdlers are using more steps between hurdles nine and 10 than between hurdles one and two, but even that comes with restrictions. You can't do just any number of strides between hurdles. Any way you look at it, this is a demanding event.

So, let's take a quick look at who does the best at keeping pace with the demands.
