We've referred repeatedly to track and field times in the cross country previews by region. It's time now to dig a little more deeply, and transparently, into track and field times from this spring and what they suggest for cross country this fall.
The idea of the analysis below is to score 1600 and 3200 times from this spring by cross country rules. In recognition of the fact that not all cross country runners run 1600s and 3200s in track, we've kept the scoring to four runners per team instead of five.
It comes as no surprise to see Frontier Academy at the top of the 3200 scoring list, but you might be surprised by the team at the top of the 1600 scoring list. I won't try to draw your conclusions for you, opting instead to merely present the data and let determine on your own what it tells you.
