It was a lovely day for some cold rain and lightning. Eventually, they got some cross country in, too, but not before D'Evelyn had to shove all their runners into the open races to accommodate a bus schedule that didn't have any weather delay bend in it--or at least that is the way the story reached my ears. As you might have suspected, that meant a lot of D'Evelyn green at the front of the open races, and probably the most leisurely win Lexi Reed has ever had in a race.
But, it's difficult to imagine the D'Evelyn athletes went home entirely happy about all that, if that was indeed the case.
Once the varsity races did get underway, Valor Christian exerted a strong presence up front with Ashton Grissom taking the win in 16:40 and Aidan Cusick following in third at 16:57. But, races aren't won on first and second runners. First and...
