The cool sun shone brightly on the eastern half of Bear Creek Regional Park on Saturday. The Doherty Spartan Invitational debuted some slight course modifications to the start and finish, but the double circuit on the rolling trail at the foot of Willis Hill remained identical to previous runnings of the meet.
After two open races, the varsity girls crowded into the new and narrower start. Fresh off of a win at her home course last week, a confident Aubrey led through the new start all the way to the new finish.
“I knew I needed to push it on the uphills and fly on the downhill. I was ready for it and I was mentally prepared.
