It wasn't so long ago that many schools simply had no pole vaulters. As the list below shows, those days are no longer.
The listing below shows every school with a pole vaulter that cleared a height in a rankings meet this past spring. The counts of schools is still relatively small in 1A, 2A, and 3A, but now includes the majority of schools in 4A and 5A.
This is not to say that pole vaulters practiced with the rest of the track team or even competed with the rest of the track team from their school in every instance. This is merely a count of schools that had pole vaulters in 2014:
